Getting around Noirmoutier Island
FREE CAR PARKS
Car parks in Barbâtre, La Guérinière and L'Epine are free of charge.
The town of Noirmoutier-en-l'île has set up a park-and-ride service where you can leave your vehicle: the "parking du centre-ville" or "parking de l'Etier du Moulin (the large town centre car park). Located at the entrance to the town, this car park has around 400 spaces and is just a short walk from the bus station. The bus station is the departure point for the "Gratibus" shuttles, which take you free of charge to a number of sites and tourist attractions on the island of Noirmoutier.
PAID CAR PARKS
The car parks in the town centre of Noirmoutier-en-l'Île and at the Plage des Dames (Ladies' Beach) are pay-and-display from 1st April to 28th September 2025, every day from 10 am to 8 pm:
- Plage des Dames – Georges-Clemenceau Avenue (17 spaces);
- Place des Martyrs (17 spaces);
- Place de la Prée au Duc (120 spaces);
- Place de la République (236 spaces);
- Place d’Armes (120 spaces);
- Rue de l’église (Church Street) (25 spaces);
- Rue du Cheminet;
- Rue de la Gare (Station Road) (10 spaces);
- Forecourt "East" of the Espace Docteur Hubert-Poignant (22 spaces).
The car parks in L’Herbaudière are pay-and-display from 1st July to 31st August 2025, every day, from 10 am to 8 pm:
- Rue Marie-Lemonnier (South side) (42 spaces);
- Municipal car park Rue de la Pointe (84 spaces).
Free parking is possible in several cases:
- The first half-hour of parking is free in the town centre and in L’Herbaudière.
- Disabled parking spaces are reserved for people who can prove their disability with an official badge.
- For shopkeepers and their employees, in the dedicated car park on Rue de la Prée au Duc.
- For healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, care assistants) and home care professionals. Please contact the Municipal Police on 02 51 35 99 78 or by email at [adresse e-mail supprimée]
- For members of the Chênes Verts club, with authorisation, in the Prée au Duc car park, on Tuesdays from 1:30 pm to 7 pm.
Short-term parking rates: payment directly at the meter ONLY BY BANK CARD or via the Paybyphone application : https://www.paybyphone.fr/
Reminder: the ticket must be visible and correctly placed on the dashboard, mandatory in all pay-and-display spaces, even for the free half-hour.
If you pay via the smartphone application, there is no ticket.

CAR PARKS FOR BUSES AND COACHES
For your group, we strongly recommend that you inform the town halls (during their opening hours) or the town police when you plan to park your coach temporarily and let them know how long you plan to park.
NOIRMOUTIER-EN-L'ÎLE / PLAGE DES DAMES / PORT DE L'HERBAUDIÈRE
There are no dedicated parking spaces for tourist coaches, but tolerances can be negotiated with the Noirmoutier-en-l'île town police if you intend to make a temporary stop in the historic town centre of Noirmoutier-en-l'île, in the Plage des Dames beach and in the port of l'Herbaudière.

Please note all the weekly markets (difficult traffic and not too much parking spaces):
- Tuesdays and Sundays in Noirmoutier-en-l'île town centre: from 31 March to 29 September 2024, seasonal markets are held on Tuesday and Sunday mornings in Noirmoutier-en-l'île town centre. It is therefore difficult to get around and park on Tuesday and Sunday mornings and midday.
- Fridays in Noirmoutier-en-l'île town centre: every Friday morning (all year round), the market takes place in Noirmoutier-en-l'île. It is therefore difficult to get around and park on Friday mornings and midday.
- Mondays at the port of Herbaudière: the seasonal market at the port of Herbaudière takes place every Monday morning from 1 April to 23 September 2024. It is therefore difficult to get around and park on Monday mornings and midday.
LA GUÉRINIÈRE
La Guérinière Town Hall: +33 (0)2 51 39 80 32
Town centre of la Guérinière :
- Place des Pinsonnières: no time limit on parking.
- Rue centrale (town centre, Musée des Traditions museum, etc.): street closed on Thursdays until 4pm (weekly market day).
- Port de Bonhomme oyster port: no time limit on parking.
L'EPINE

L'Epine town centre:
- Place du docteur Plantier: temporary parking except on Saturday mornings and lunchs during the weeklly market.
- Salle de sport/centre de tir: located on the right-hand side of the D38 (just after the "Les Eglats" Renault garage), temporary parking only on Saturday mornings and lunch (when there is the weekly market). Please note that you have to cross the D38.
Port de Morin marina:
- Drop-off point at 25 rue du port: located 300m from the Port du Morin Harbour Master's Office car park.
- Site opposite "BILLET MARINE": small site where 1 coach can park temporarily.
- Along the D38: temporary parking
BARBÂTRE
Barbâtre town hall: +33 (0) 2 51 39 68 58
- Passage du Gois (Gois passage) : by-pass area (max. 3 hours' parking). Located 600m from the entrance to the Gois, on the Ile de Noirmoutier side, or temporary parking at the Barbâtre tourist office (1.7 km).
- Plage des Onchères beach: parking near the football pitch and the "Terre de défis" sports and leisure centre for groups, at the end of chemin de la Martinière.
- Temporary parking at the Barbâtre tourist office: 750m from the Polder de Sébastopol and 1.7 km from the Passage du Gois.
