NOIRMOUTIER-EN-L’ÎLE MARKET

Noirmoutier-en-l'île

In the north of the island, small streets, buildings and other places full of history are tucked away in Noirmoutier’s town centre. Its shops, sidewalk cafés and restaurants create a bustling atmosphere. In the distance, the scents of maritime pines and evergreen oaks will lure you to the Bois de la Chaise wood and its sheltered coves.

L'Épine

The village of L’Épine offers its visitors beautiful walks through marshes and woods.

In the wild marsh near the dunes of Luzéronde, the only sound that disrupts the quiet is the flapping of birds’ wings. The salt makers extract the salt from their marshes during the summer months. The Plage de l’Épine beach extends for more than 3 km, exposing rocks and sand pits rich in shellfish at low tide. At the tip of the bay, Morin Port provides berths for fishing boats and yachts.

Barbâtre

After the legendary Gois Passage or Noirmoutier Island Bridge, the preserved nature of Barbâtre will capture your gaze.

With the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Bourgneuf Bay on the other, a forest of large maritime pines and a strip of dunes run along the fine sandy beaches. Walking and cycling trails, land yachting and board sports, and birding in the Sébastopol Polder Nature Reserve: whatever your interests, you’ll have the chance to breathe in the fresh air and admire the nature all around you.

La Guérinière

La Guérinière is located in the narrowest part of the island.

To the east, the Bonhomme oyster port contains very typical, colourful fishing huts and provides access to the many shellfish beds in Bourgneuf Bay.

To the west, La Guérinière flanks the Atlantic with its cove stretching along 7 km of fine sandy beaches. In the dunes, the scents of purple wallflowers, bindweed and everlasting flowers fill the air. Mills overlook the Court Dune. The Both Mill watches over the moored boats.
